The robots won't need us

On If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies by Eliezer Yudkowsky and Nate Soares

6/10

A bit of a societal hit-piece on VC-led “innovation at all costs” mindsets and offers a somewhat one-sided take that assumes impending doom and failure with an inability for co-dependence after AI capabilities grow and eventually surpass those of humans. There could be truth to it, and maybe that is the mission: a warning shot across the bow of society to ensure we don’t innovate ourselves into an early grave. It assumes there is no path to an alternative endgame without regulation, but that kind of regulation is unlikely to happen.

We’re entering an era of AI escaping confinement and humans volunteering to be replaced, which might not bode well.
