Ebola, PPE, and flying aluminum tubes
On No One's Coming by Kevin Hazzard
8/10 Couldn't stop reading
In 2014, the seemingly ragtag contract aircraft operator Phoenix Air (Cartersville, GA) took a modified Gulfstream to rescue American medical workers in Ebola-stricken West Africa, ultimately causing a barrage of geopolitical events while transporting ill patients over the Atlantic to Emory University, where they met welcoming parties with zero chill.
It’s a riveting story about engineering exceptionally good PPE on an airplane and then hoping it worked.
